Nick Knight is an original. His stunning photography and amazing style can sometimes go unnoticed, but to a fashion person or photographer's trained eye, you know right away who this is. Although one might think that some of his work recalls Avedon, or Jean Paul Goude, it is not. His photographs have their own voice. The way he has chosen to depict the movement and compositions in these photographs through the use of clothing, models and dancers is unbelievable. Thank you to Another Magazine, Nick Knight and Alister Mackie and to all the designers whose dresses have been used for this editorial. It is breath taking. Beauty does sell magazine covers! And in this case, all of James Franco's fans old and new are going to love this cover once it hits newsstands. For Vogue Hommes International, their Spring/Summer 2011 issue pays homage to the 'James Dean' -esque good looks that Franco was told he had when he first hit the acting scene. Since then, he has become a fully bonafied fashion icon, who Frida Giannini, the creative director at Gucci has made the face of their Menswear. The cover is a ode to the 70's style of photography, with tank top and underarm hair in check, Helmut Newton would be proud of the rawness of this photograph.

Shot in a very similar style to the Juergen Teller photographs, but upping the anti on glam, Steven Meisel has composed some amazing shots for the Lanvin Spring 2011 ad campaign, featuring models Kinga Rajzak and Iselin Steiro. The title "Good Girl Gone Bad" is in reference to the sweet docile girl yet strong woman that walked down the catwalk. She seems to have tossed her 'Miss goody two shoes' for a much more dominatrix/drama queen stilettos. Needless to say, everyone is talking about this campaign! Bravo Elber Albaz, the Creative Director and genius behind the clothes and kudos to Steven Meisel, who like Kate Moss, never seems to take a bad photo!

For those of you that have been wondering where I have been, well, I was on a much needed vacation...... But I am now back and ready to throw myself endlessly into 2011. So what better way to start off the new year with the man who made a splash at the end of 2010. He was the most talked about designer, having a limited engagement fashion show, with only the top editors. And to follow, no pictures, no videos, no images were released of the collection until the beginning of December, right before the clothes were supposed to hit the stores. Well, Tom has released an edited video of the show.....which is quite something. Very 70's, very Saint Laurent, and very Halston. And let's talk about the powerhouse of women that he got to model in the show. Just take a look at the video. It is worth less than three and half minutes out of your life. Grazie Tom! Love the music that goes a long with it.
Daphne Groeneveld is one of the three girls chosen to be made over as "Albinos" for the latest Givenchy Spring 2011 ad campaign. Mariacarla Boscono, of course, and Iris Strubegger are the other two models photographed by duo Mert & Marcus. The images, starkly white are very romantic, have a very ghostly and vintage quality to them. The photography reminds me of the famous black and white photograph's of Richard Avedon.

January Jones shot by Mario Testino for Versace Spring 2011
The first shots by Mario Testino for Versace's Spring 2011 ad campaign show this new Versace vixen in very 60's Hollywood hair and make-up. Mad Men gone Versace? Yes, and add a little sex, a.k.a January Jones in accessories......and nothing else and you have a very iconic woman, the one that Donatella Versace feels very comfortable designing for.
Some of the shots made me think of Gisele Bündchen, the brazilian supermodel who has been shots many times in Versace ads. I like how clean, sleek, modern and timeless the photographs look. They definitely capture a moment which is now, but can also be 10 years from now. Great job Testino!
To end on another Versace note, Donatella has designed another fragrance, and I like the name of this one because it goes back to the DNA of the company with the name VANITAS. Here is the video advertisement featuring model of the moment Lindsey Wixson.

Gareth Pugh is a British fashion designer who began designing costumes for the English National Youth Theater at the age of 14. Now 29, he has been producing solo shows since 2006. His bold and exaggerated designs have been featured on the cover of Dazed & Confused Magazine. Even Anna Wintour is a strong supporter of Pugh's designs.
He managed to dress some of the most famous of the fashion icons, including Kylie, Beyonce, Lady Gaga, Ashlee Simpson, and Anna Dello Russo.
His body-clinging futuristic dresses are some of the most inspiring pieces from the Spring collections. As super talented as Paco Rabanne and Pierre Cardin, he definitely pushes forward ideas that these designers have experimented with for decades. Wow to the Barberella girl that dares to wear these pieces!
Just in case you hadn't seen this yet, our amazing ADR wore one of Pugh's dresses to the Lady Gaga concert in Milan yesterday. Here is a picture that was posted on Twitter taken by her friend designer Francesco Scognamiglio. Amazining!!!!

Roland Mouret designs call to mind some of the greats in fashion, Halston and Vionnet. For Spring 2011, he sent out the most beautifully sculpted series of black dresses; ones that could easily be seen on January Jones, or Demi Moore. The textures of his silks, which looked hammered and embossed were beautiful when they draped and hit the light.
Today, Mouret lives in London where he oversees his atelier and designs under the Roland Mouret label. He is a master draper and his association with the hollywood set began the day he designed the famous "Titanium" and "Galaxy" Dress. He is branching off into separate pieces, but one can't help but recognize and give a big round of applause to the dresses that brought him to the forefront in the first place.

Some of the most beautiful dresses Milan Fashion week are by Donatella Versace and who better to wear them in the Ad Campaign for Spring 2011 but Mad Men star January Jones. The campaign is set to be shot by the amazing Mario Testino.
It is no surprise that Donatella has chosen January. She has been showing up to red carpet events and parties looking stunning in some of the most expensive gowns from the Versace and Atelier Versace collections. The two met on the set of a magazine shoot for Elle US and the rest was history.
Mario Testino has shot some of the most memorable ad campaign for Versace, including the one in the 90's one starring Madonna. I can't wait to see how this match translates in the glossies!
